I bought this book because I'm working on my on book relating to the subject (but with a narrower focus) - and I just loved it. The color photos were stunning, the stories were ones I hadn't heard before - from a church move and what keeps a steeple from collapsing during it to how houses were floated on water - some temporarily, some permanently.A big surprise is the DVD accompanying it: in PAL format; but this allows me to test my 'all countries player' on this include DVD to see if it truly works before spending money on a expanded set by the same topic which may not work with my newer TV.

The DVD has few details provided before you purchase the book. There are two 90 minute episodes. The first is Risky Moves, and switches back and forth between two stories the Sankaty Head Lighthouse on Nantucket Island was too close to the eroding shoreline. which is the main subject of the Lighthouses chapter; and the town of Malmberget, Sweden that is endangered by the collapsing iron ore mines beneath it, which is the subject of a summary on page 19 of the Towns chapter. The second is the Long Locomotive, which covers the return of a North British Locomotive 15F Class engine and tender #3007 built in 1944/45 from South Africa to Scotland, which is the main subject of the Trains chapter.
